I celebrated my 25th birthday today with family. Goodness; a quarter of a century!! Sundays are best because everyone is free after church. It was so nice to cook for family. Between my class, work and baby, I’ve been so eager to start cooking again.

My fam spoiled me with lots of new cooking gear. My parents got me a sleek black dutch oven, from Alla – a serving bowl and matching platter hand made in Portugal, Anna got me a large bamboo cutting board and kitchen towels, and from Tanya – colorful bakeware. My hubby bought me a very festive new dish set (which I used to display the cheesecake below). What can I say, kitchen stuff makes me all giddy.

My sister Sveta also got me a gift certificate for a pedicure (YESSS!!) and my aunt Anna gave me a fuzzy pink robe (ahhh).

I didn’t make a birthday cake and didn’t have candles on hand so we used a lighter and the cheesecake.

I have to say I love cheesecake and this is The Best cheesecake! (Recipe to Follow). My sister said it was “Better than Cheesecake Factory.” I topped it with a mixed berry sauce – mmm!

It took me some time to prep for our crowd of 14, but it was well worth it! It was great to have everyone over at our place enjoying what I’ve been slaving away at.
